Hi My name is Ray Trezona and I would love to share with you what Gods been doing in my life through this ministry.At one time I myself was a Prison Inmate in Floridas Prisons. In 1976 I found Christ while in jail in Pensacola Florida. I was convicted and served 3 years in Prison.
Last year what started out to be a small group Bible study in one of Miami Dade Countys Detention Centers has developed into teaching Seminary and Bible Collage class. Currently I teach a small group of Men who have expressed a deep desire to understand the Bible, and some hope to become pastors or return to start or become part of a Prison Ministry.
The class that are currently being taught are actually in one of Miami Dade Counrt's Detention Centers (they no longer use the term jail). My vision has been to provide the same opportunity to these Men in our Jails, and Prisons, to receive as much training as possible to prepare for a life of Christian Ministry rather then one of incarceration and hopelessness. Through Miami Theological Seminary (Mints Miami) many of these men have already started on a path of Christian Education to become Pastors, Missionaries and Church leaders right where they are. Each inmate is enrolled in courses to work toward a Bible College degree or Certificate in Biblical Studies. This is made possible by the unique Ministry that Mints Miami offers.Last year the Lord laid it on my heart to start offering these class for credit toward a Degree or Certificate in Biblical studies. The desire I have has been not to just teach the Bible but to help develop Christian leaders who regardles if they are released from Jail or sent to serve a sentence in one of Floridas State Prisons they will have started down a new path with new goals, and a new hope. By working toward a Degree or even a Certificate in Biblical Studies it provides a new and meaningfull goal for them, a sense of accomplishment one class at a time. As they complete each course they recieve a Certificate of completion for that course.To many of us it is just a piece of paper, to them it is the evidence that they can do all things through Christ. I truly believe the real bennefit to the men is it builds in them a sense of real accomplishment. It has given them achevable goals to strive for and shows them what they can do not what they can't do. Many of these men have given up and its as if they were programed to fail. They have worked hard to complete class in Bible Study Methods and Systematic Theology that would challenge any Christian in the Church today.
